Find out about driving schools near your project?
First and foremost, it's essential to carry out a survey of existing driving schools near the premises where you plan to open your driving school, to find out who your future competitors will be and whether you'll respect the minimum distance from each of them.
To do this, you'll need to do a little research into nearby driving schools, and check with the mining department of the prefecture or province concerned. Don't forget to ask whether any applications have already been submitted in the same area.
This is a step not to be neglected, to avoid the risk that the premises you are renting or buying will not be authorized.
A minimum distance of 350 m?
The driving school sector is highly regulated. In order to open a driving school, certain rules must be respected.
Note No. 249/2017 supplementing the decision of the Minister of Equipment, Transport and Logistics No. 271.13 of February 14, 2013 concerning the minimum distance between driving schools stipulates that the minimum distance of 350 meters must separate the nearest end of the facade of the planned driving school from that of each of the neighboring driving schools and, where applicable, neighboring driving schools in the process of being authorized. The distance must be true horizontal, following a straight line of 350 m, whatever the slope of the land.

A minimum surface area of 50 m²?
According to decree no. 271-13 of the Minister of Equipment and Transport of 11 Rabii I 1434 (January 23, 2013) setting out the specifications for the opening and operation of driving schools, any premises required to house a driving school must have a floor area greater than or equal to twenty-four (50) m2 and be fitted out and adapted to its activities.
If the premises you intend to operate are registered, you can easily check their surface area by requesting a property certificate or cadastral map.
Technical file ?
Once the choice of premises has been made, it's essential to contact a topographical surveyor in private practice, duly sworn in and in good standing with the national order of topographical surveyors, to draw up a technical file for you. This is an essential part of your authorization file.
According to ONIGT technical note N 15 for the execution of the topographic service relating to the measurement of distances for the Opening and Operation of Driving Training Establishments, the documents making up the technical file for chaining are :
- An attestation certifying that the measurement has been made in centimetres and quantified in metres;
- The elements of land registry consultation ;
- A survey sketch ;
- All survey elements ;
- All calculation elements ;
- A measuring plan showing nearby and planned driving schools
